Confirmation at St. John's
Information about St. John's sacramental preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation will be provided at a meeting for all candidates and their parents in Fall. Packets with information about Confirmation requirements, including service and retreats, were distributed at that meeting.
However, in the meantime, a letter has been mailed to all prospective Confirmation candidates. If you did not receive one, a copy is provided here.
Young people in Grade 10 or older are welcome to prepare for this Sacrament of Initiation. Confirmation has been assigned as Saturday, Feb. 12, 2011 at the Cathedral of St. Paul. Teens who are in 10th grade or older may prepare to be Confirmed by fulfilling the requirements of St. John's preparation program as outlined below (see General Overview or Program Information below).
If you attended the Steubenville North II Conference in Summer 2010, you will have fulfilled your retreat experience. The 2010 Summer Stretch, Mission Minneapolis, IHM VBS and/or St. John's Voyages VBS experiences can apply to your Confirmation service requirements.
As our calendar is created and information is available, it will be uploaded to this page.
The sacramental preparation fee of $95 covers all costs associated with Confirmation, including the required retreat experience. Young people who do not attend Catholic high school are required to enroll for Wednesday classes. RE tuition is $111 per child. Financial assistance is available and payment plans may be arranged. No child will be denied religious education based on ability to pay.
Catholic high school 10th graders must register as Confirmation candidates but are not required to enroll in Wednesday classes. When Catholic high school students register, they will be scheduled for a pre-Confirmation interview with a member of the RE staff.
If you have questions about St. John’s religious education programs, sacramental preparation for Confirmation or how to volunteer in any of our parish RE programs, Sunday School through high school, please e-mail alittle@stjohns-savage.org or call (952)890-9434.
