South Metro Meal Pack for Feed My Starving Children

February 6-11, 2017

St. John's will once again be one of 22 church partners for the South Metro Meal Pack for Feed My Starving Children scheduled Feb. 6-11, 2017 with a goal to pack 4 Million Meals to help feed God's hungry children throughout the world. The location of the packing event will again be the former Rainbow Foods in Apple Valley at the corner of Cedar Ave. and Cty. Rd 42!

This event cannot happen without financial support and the work of many hands! How can you get involved?
  • Be a trained volunteer! Trained volunteers work through two packing shifts helping FMSC staff troubleshoot packing stations by providing supplies needed. Training is required and will be scheduled at the Eagan FMSC site some time in January!
  • Help with hospitality! Hospitality volunteers welcome packers as they arrive, distribute the required hair nets and help people find restrooms and child care!
  • Pack meals! More than 20,000 volunteers are needed throughout the week to help pack meals to reach the 4 Million Meal Pack goal. Registration for individuals will be open in January -- but in the meantime, St. John's will be reserving (as a partner) opportunities for large groups of 100 or more to serve during the packing week!
  • Donate! The grocery bill for this packing event is $880,000! Each pack meal uses ingredients costing 20 cents -- and most volunteers pack enough meals to fill at least one carton which holds $50 of ingredients. The most important number to remember is that $80 can feed one child for one year! Doing the math, if every packer puts aside 50 cents between now and Feb. 11 when the packing event ends, every packer will have accumulated enough money to pay the entire grocery bill!
    • Proceeds from the Knights of Columbus Pancake Breakfast will be going towards St. John's partnership commitment to the South Metro Meal Pack! Volunteers are needed to help work the Pancake Breakfast along with the Knights!
  • Pray! Your prayers for the packers, FMSC staff and sponsors are vital to help make this God-sized vision become reality!
